Andi
Callahan has been professionally involved in the art world since
1985. She was a Raku potter specializing in thrown, decorative pottery
with iridescent metallic glazes.
Many years later Andi expanded into fused glass
in an attempt to step outside of her traditional craft and obtain
new inspiration. The brilliant colors available in iridescent and
dichroic glass soon became an overriding preoccupation, and glass
work won over clay. She is now concentrating on large, elaborate
fused glass sculptures which reflect contemporary southwest themes.
In addition to the above, Andi is also an accomplished,
self-taught jeweler. With color, again, being her primary motivation,
her jewelry incorporates opals, Brazilian agate druseys, spectacular
freeform and semiprecious stones. Her work is primarily done in
fine silver, with some 22K gold accents.
Andi’s work is sold throughout the US in
galleries and shops, as well as in larger art venues in New Mexico
and Arizona. Her studio is always available by appointment.
